who we are
We are St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, a member of the PC(USA), in John Calvin Presbytery. We are a warm, friendly congregation and you’ll find our service pretty traditional. We celebrate Communion on the first and third Sunday of each month and on other occasions as determined by our governing body, the Session. Our Communion Table is open to all.
We would love to have you join us for worship Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.
We are located at 30 James River Rd in Kimberling City, Missouri.
Our Mission
With God’s love and grace, we care.
• We welcome ALL and are known for our hospitality and fellowship.
• We are ecumenically minded, working in mission with other churches and organizations in this area.
• We are a team of talented, skilled, thoughtful Christians who bring caring to our community.
Our Vision
We have emerged from a vision/planning process as a congregation
ready to move ahead, not carrying baggage or sacred cows.
Our goal is to be a congregation that lives out Jesus’s commandment to
“love our neighbors.” Every neighbor, no exceptions.
The Presbyterian Church
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.
God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.
Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.
At the core of Presbyterian identity is a secure hope in the grace of God in Jesus Christ, a hope that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, empowers us to lives lives of gratitude: “In affirming with the earliest Christians that Jesus is Lord, the Church confesses that he is its hope, and that the Church, as Christ’s body, is bound to his authority and thus free to live in the lively, joyous reality of the grace of God.” (Book of Order F-1.0204)
This strong emphasis on the grace of God in Jesus Christ is our heritage from
the founder of the Reformed tradition, John Calvin.

Pastor
Rev. dr. tom schacher
Pastor Tom has served churches of all sizes and in many different places around the country for
the last 29 years. But coming to St. Andrew was in many ways a coming home! Tom grew up in Springfield, Missouri and spent much of his youth on Table Rock Lake. The Ozarks are home for him. Tom is a passionate speaker and leader who believes that the church is all about relationships – our relationship with God and our relationships with one another. “Everything we do as a church,” he says, “is built on the foundation of life-giving relationships. When people come to St. Andrew, I want them to experience and know genuine, positive relationships with others and I want them to experience and know a saving relationship that can only be found in Jesus Christ.” Mission has a special place in Tom’s heart. He has developed, led and been a part of missions to Costa Rica, Russia, Cuba and the Czech Republic. In fact, one of the missions that he founded, in the Czech Republic, is now in its 19 th year and is still going strong and making a difference in people’s lives. But while Tom’s mission ministry extends into the world, he believes deeply that mission outreach begins at home. He feels called to serve the poor and the disenfranchised of the community and to help the church to not only minister to people’s needs but to be in relationship with them, as well. Tom’s ministry is inclusive, creating a welcoming and affirming church for everyone. “My hope is that no matter who you are, what you look like, who you love, or where you are on life’s journey you will find a home here at St. Andrew where you can grow in life and faith. So come give St. Andrew a try! Come and listen for the calling of Christ upon your own life to love your neighbor, seek justice, create peace and practice compassion; to open your mind and your heart to all that Christ calls you to be and all Christ calls you to be about in this world. You are welcome here!” |
